Accessibility statement for Coddington Parish Council website

This accessibility statement applies to the website for Coddington Parish Council at https://village.coddington.org.uk/. There are other websites using the coddington.org.uk main and sub-domains used by other groups in the village of Coddington, but these are managed separately to the Parish Council’s website and do not have access to the website used by the Parish Council.

This website is run by Coddington Parish Council. We want as many people as possible to be able to use this website. For example, that means you should be able to:

  • change colours and contrast levels using browser or device settings
  • zoom in up to 400% without the text spilling off the screen
  • navigate most of the website using a keyboard or speech recognition software
  • listen to most of the website using a screen reader (including the most recent versions of JAWS, NVDA and VoiceOver)

AbilityNet has advice on making your device easier to use if you have a disability.

How accessible this website is

We know some parts of this website are not fully accessible:

  • you cannot modify the line height or spacing of text without using a browser extension
  • most older PDF documents are not fully accessible to screen reader software

The Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC) is responsible for enforcing the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018 (the ‘accessibility regulations’). Technical information about this website’s accessibility

Coddington Parish Council is committed to making its website accessible, in accordance with the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018.

Compliance status

The website has been tested against the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 AA standard.

This website is partially compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.2 AA standard, due to the non-compliances listed below.

Non-accessible content

The content listed below is non-accessible for the following reasons.

Non-compliance with the accessibility regulations

The website has been tested using the WAVE tool (the link shows the current status of the website, so there may have been changes since this statement was prepared):

https://wave.webaim.org/report#/village.coddington.org.uk

and after improvements to remove all of the errors and contrast errors the following non-compliances remain:

  • Skipped heading level h3 for the Featured Items secondary menu heading
  • Two redundant links
  • 21 paragraphs of justified text
  • 3 headings with underlined text
  • Two redundant title text
  • Hidden form labels, lists and ARIA markups associated with cookie control

The WAVE tool reports no errors or contrast errors on the website, with  accessibility impact scores of all pages ranging from 9.4/10 to 9.9/10.

Content that’s not within the scope of the accessibility regulations

PDFs and other documents

The accessibility regulations do not require us to fix PDFs or other documents published before 23 September 2018 if they’re not essential to providing our services. For example, we do not plan to fix PDFs created and edited externally to the Parish Council (for example documents created by other organisations).

Any new PDFs or Word documents we create ourselves will tested for accessibility before being published.

What we’re doing to improve accessibility

Coddington Parish Council will complete an annual review of the accessibility of its website using the WAVE tool or similar applications, and make improvements to reduce the number of non-compliances.

Preparation of this accessibility statement

This statement was prepared on 26 March 2026. It is due to be reviewed before the March 2027 Parish Council meeting.

This website was last tested on 26 February against the WCAG 2.2 AA standard.

The test was carried out by Coddington Parish Council using the WAVE tool on all web pages, after making improvements to remove all reported errors and contrast errors.
