Mumbo Jumbo present

“Troubadours and Raconteurs”

at the Village Hall

Thursday 8th March 2018 7:30pm

The Village Hall is again welcoming Village Ventures – the rural and community touring scheme for Nottinghamshire featuring high quality professional dance, drama and music from the best in national and international touring companies and performers.

Mumbo-Jumbo produce a sound all of their own. They play uplifting original songs, rarely-heard rootsy tunes and more familiar numbers, all delivered with a real sense of humour. They are some of the Midlands' most experienced blues musicians, Oliver Carpenter (vocal/trumpet/percussion) Chris Lomas (vocal, bass, uke and guitar) and Phil Bond (vocal, piano and squeezebox) - three rootsy, close-harmony singer/songwriters singing songs of life, work, baldness and home care for the elderly! It's a big band sound in a small package, with a terrific combo of trumpet, keyboard, accordion, washboard and vocals. Nominated for songwriting in the British Blues Awards.

The show features mainly self-penned catchy songs (check out 'He's got a little bald spot' - which features a guest appearance by Steve 'Dr Teeth' Steinhaus). (see first YouTube link below).

Doors open 7pm. Tea, coffee and juice will be available at the interval, or bring something stronger if you wish.

Tickets £11 if paid in advance, £12 on the door. Children £5. From: Bernard Allen (703360), Isobel Turner (708781) & Philip Waller (701013)

All Proceeds to Village Hall funds (Reg. Charity No:214953)
